An Act of Love, Says Mother
February 18, 1990 - A pregnant 43-year old mother said through tears yesterday that the unborn baby she hoped would save the life of her cancer-stricken daughter was conceived as an act of love.
Mary Ayala became pregnant in the hope that the baby will become a suitable bone marrow donor to her daughter Anissa, who has leukemia for the past two years and could soon die.
Her mother said she felt the baby, a girl due on April 13th, would be a blessing from God.
