Never Too Old? Mom-to-be, 49

Catherine McDiarmid-Watt | Wednesday, May 02, 2018 | 1 comments

Image: Baby Outdoors Girl, by Dimitris Vetsikas on PixabayJune 9, 1997 - The sales clerk thought she was being helpful when the 49-year-old shopper walked into the store's maternity department.

What size is your daughter? the clerk inquired of Maryann Meighan Riebe.

A pregnant pause ensued.

It's Maryann Meighan Riebe who is expecting - and expecting to hear other things just like that.

I thought I was showing and I was kind of preening, she said. She just thought I was a little chunky.

People wonder what she thinks she's doing pushing the biological envelope.

They wonder whether she knows what's in store for her and her child.

Even in the wake of the recent revelation that a 63-year-old woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl last year, a pregnant woman who can sniff the big 5-0 lurking around the corner is unsettling to society's norms.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.

Hello and my best to one and all-new and established on this site; This is my first posting...

Ive had a failed attempt at ED and now aged 50 am trying somewhere new-EMBIO Greece-(anyone tried and trusted please?)

Am eager to find others in similiar situ-espec as wrestling with so many feelings. What with being bestly 'advanced in years' -alone, and feeling guilty,Ive missed the boat...
Will I cope IF it works, how can I connect please with others-pref also in your very latter years having ED (of which also naturally struggling with that!_though good days and bad as ever).

Sorry to sound so negative but its been a long lonely battle of constant uncertainty coupled with trying to do the right thing. Impacted negatively on my health as a result. Yes for sure, I want a child but at this age-and more importantly, will I be able to deliver the best if Im old and tired and thus unable to poss do all the physical things etc?
I want this, but should i have this.........

Im full of love to give to child and that is guaranteed. But is it enough. No more time to waste.

Am open to all and be happy to support/assistance/share jokes and pain in return!

    MANY THANKS

    Robbie
