Woman gives birth to twins at 57
November 7, 2010 - A 57-YEAR-OLD woman, believed to be the oldest mother to give birth in Australia, has delivered IVF twins.
The Sunday Herald Sun can reveal the woman gave birth by Cesarean section on Monday at King Edward Memorial Hospital in Perth.
The case is believed to have set an Australian record.
Sources said the woman, who is believed to be from India, had IVF treatment with donated eggs in India before delivering twins in Perth this week.
She is understood to have spent the duration of her pregnancy in WA and was accompanied by a man, believed to be her husband.
