I am 46 and pregnant with my third child, about 18 weeks, and doing well. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a while, and too thought well, we might be too old.......... Surprise, surprise!

My husband works in a large medical community, with many therapists and physicians. When he revealed to his colleagues that we are expecting, that is when we began to learn about so many pregnancies and healthy births to couples even in their 50's! Not egg donor, but natural births occurring to moms 50 and 51 years old.

There is always hope, and I encourage you to grab hold and hang on. It can happen to you.

Tonight I heard an interesting story from a friend. My friend was born in 1942, when her mother was 46. My friend's mother was born in 1896, when her own mother was 46.

Odd coincidence, isn't it? My friend said this was a second marriage for her mother, who conceived within a year of the marriage. Her father was in his late 50's, and my friend was his first/only child. She had a half-sister 25 years older than she.

I have a maternal great grandmother, and a fraternal grandmother, who had children at 46, so I can't really rely on my age to protect me, but I have a good friend whose egg quality at 35 was questionable. Fortunately, with assistance, she got her second child.

I'm married with five children: Karenna 16, (graduating in 2007), Peter 10, Krista 3,I had my twins: Dorothy Marie and Olivia Bernadette were born on November 3, 2006. Dorothy was 7lbs 11oz, 20 inches & Olivia was 7lbs 13 oz 20 inches. - Bella (50 years old)
