In general, is it possible to be pregnant at almost 47? Yes! One of my favourite sayings is "it ain't over 'til it's over" and until you have not had a period for an entire year, you have not reached menopause and it is very possible to get pregnant.

We know that a woman's cycles begin to slow down and change once she reaches 40 but as long as she is still cycling, she is still generally fertile and capable of achieving pregnancy.

I thought I'd tell you that my surgeon told all of us female patients that he wants us to use TWO forms of birth control for the first (at least) 18 months to two years [after bypass surgery] because our hormones are changing around so much, that it really easy to get pregnant. He's even had a woman that had menopause get pregnant.

I am 44 and we are expecting #6 in May 2007. Rodney and I have been married 20 years and are parents to Sara, Alex, Lydia, John and Stephen. 16, 10, 6, 5, 2 years old.

I have enjoyed your website. I did a search on "pregnant and 44" and found you. It is wonderful to find other mommas excited about being a momma. We are very excited about #6. The girls want another girl so they won't be "boy trapped". Alex wants a girl so he won't have to change diapers.

My mom had me when she was 40 (her 5th), and said I was the easiest pregnancy and birth. She didn't think twice about her age.

Maybe that's because her mom (my grandma) had her third (my aunt) when she was 45.

Also my aunt had 3 kids after 40. No problems at all.
