Women who conceived by surprise at 47
Posted By anonymous on 2006-09-28
I have a friend who had twins at 55 via IVF with donor's eggs......... and oh.. she looked gorgeous with her belly sticking out at six month - seven month etc uneventful...
Uncomplicated pregnancy and grey haired and all....... Just beautiful. She inspired me and also my sister gave birth to her 3rd child at 45 and the doctor has told her to keep going... If she wanted... A few other women I knew personally conceived naturally and by surprise at age 47!

I thought I'd post this here... I was talking to someone yesterday (I didn't even tell her I was trying to get pregnant), she told me her mother had her last child at the age of 47. She thought she was going through menopause, but she was 4 months pregnant !!
No, she didn't use fertility drugs - this woman I was talking to was in her upper 40's and she was talking about how her mother had her last child at the age of 47. She thought she was going through menopause because she didn't get her period, but she was pregnant. I don't think fertility drugs were even invented back then. It seems the more you talk with people about this, the more stories you hear.

Oh! And we had a 45 year old who had her 1st here about 18 months ago (natural conception).

I am pregnant and 44. I am due in April. I had my son at 40. I know it's hard to find women our age on these boards, although I am sure they are out there.

But I know this woman who has had 10 children (all by the same father even. They're a Christian family). She had her first child in 1980 when she was 29. Her last child was born in 1998 and she was 47. All of these kids turned out to be perfectly healthy babies.

You Can Get Pregnant in Your 40's
What inspiring stories. I have been so depressed thinking that at 44 I would never get pregnant. So now I am so happy to know it is still possible. Thank you Thank you Thank you...for this very life giving site...Pun intended!
