She will be 50 next month & 14w pregnant with twins

My girlfriend of 20 plus years is 14 weeks pregnant with twins.. she did IVF in Minneapolis, she lives close to Canada! She will be 50 next month but is in great health....these are her first children.

You are not too old to conceive or carry a pregnancy. I have many patients in their 40's who are having their first child. My oldest patient was 53 years old, having her 23rd child. You are considered young [at 36y] and can easily become pregnant and carry a pregnancy to term. As long as you have regular periods (at any age), you can conceive.

The ability to conceive (fertility) ends when estrogen is no long in the body. As long as you are ovulating, you can conceive. You have heard of "change of life babies“. Even if you are 55 years old, you still can conceive if there are enough sperm cells and estrogen. The number of previous children may make the pregnancy easier but, even if she has never had a child, she still can become pregnant.

A woman's fertility ends when she goes in to menopause and stops getting her period. The chances are of her getting pregnant at 47 or 49 would depend on this. If she is still having a menstrual cycle, then YES she could get pregnant. Older women get pregnant all the time.
