I am now 44 with 6 month old twins

I win!!! I am the oldest hag/mommy on this board having just had my twins at the crusty old age of 43 ~ I am now 44 with 6 month old twins and they are farking exhausting me! I was in excellent physical shape (skied, hiked, mountain biked, did yoga every day) before the pregnancy. I never thought that being pregnant or a twin mommy would kick my ass like it has because I am a very, very, YOUNG 44!

The myth: Once a woman has started having hot flushes and other symptoms, pregnancy is impossible.

The truth: During this time, our ovaries may still release eggs during some menstrual cycles. We’re unlikely to become pregnant during our late 40's, but a pregnancy is certainly not impossible. (Remember the term “menopause baby”?) If you’ve had a period anytime within the past 12 months, be sure to use effective birth control if you’re sexually active.

I met my husband and married him when I was 39, struggled through infertility, and had my daughter at 44 through a donor egg. While I don't think there is a right and a wrong age to have kids, I do wish that I would have met my husband sooner and had her when I was in my 30's -- that seems more "right" for me.

I think there are benefits to having older parents. My hubby was the last of 6, an "oh I thought it was menopause" baby when his mother was 44 and his dad was 46. His oldest siblings are close in age to my parents.

I haven't read all the posts so don't know if this is true, but I may be the all-time old timer here. My girl/girl twins were born when I was 44.5. Yup. Let's just say that there was a whole lot of ART involved there, but in my case, I didn't purposely decide 44 was a great time to have kids.
