A 55y grandmother pregnant with triplets
What about older women who don't enter menopause at the "normal" time frame? Are they also too old? I'm thinking in particular about a situation I read about around a year ago...or so? A 55 year old grandmother (she had something like a dozen grandchildren already) who got pregnant NATURALLY with triplets. Guess nature didn't think she was too old.

I visited this new doctor yesterday. Amazingly, I left feeling a shred of hope even though there really isn't much that he can do... But he didn't give me the "old egg" speech and in fact told me to stop talking like that. He said "I have ladies come through here all the time who are in their fifties and still getting pregnant with their own eggs, so I refuse to believe that your eggs are 'bad'....

Often, women will seek IVF treatment because they have found their partner late in life. Jenna (not her real name) met her husband when she was 37. A part-time health worker who lives in the outer suburbs of Melbourne, she was lucky to conceive naturally when she was 39, but wanted another child and went on a donor egg program after a few failed attempts at IVF.
While waiting for a donor to come up, Jenna conceived naturally again, aged 44. But that didn't stop her maternal urge. "I know it might sound funny, but I have a very strong maternal instinct," she says. "When I left the maternity ward (aged 44) I thought I would like another child, even though I was old. I can't explain that. It's actually a strong desire."
46,
She went on the donor egg program again, and, two days short of turning 51, she gave birth to twin girls.
"It is exhausting, it is tiring," she says with a laugh, as her two-year-old twins run amok, playing games and talking nonsense, as kids do, screaming "chocolate chicken!" and falling about laughing.

To me, its encouraging when I see 40+ women getting pregnant easily. I feel inspired by it. I recently heard about a 44 year old lady, who got pregnant after trying for many years.

I am 46 in June and are now 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant with my first child!
I have had 3 unsuccessful ICSI cycles in 2004 and really with my age was pretty down about it ever happening! I have already had my HCG levels checked and had a scan which were all fine!
