My mother had my little brother at 48

My mother got pregnant at 47 and had my little brother at 48. I am 39 and pregnant with my first and have a little brother who is 16! Also, at the time of conception (and through the pregnancy!) my mother was drinking heavily and taking tranquilizers (she has issues, obviously) and not eating properly at all and my brother is fine, as are all of us who suffered the same "in utero neglect".

I'm sure you aren't doing the things she did but I figured I'd tell you about it to just say that, if my mother can conceive and carry a baby at that age, anyone can.

I am 44 and at nearly 8 weeks. Lost one at about this point not too long ago but didn't know it until about 12 weeks into it, with ultrasound (after spotting). Had one "normal pregnancy" after the D&C and quickly pregnant again with nothing but Nature helping us. We just decided to let Nature do her thing. Even with the first loss that was still Nature's decision. It made it easier, in some ways, to cope.

I have an 18 year old college daughter, 16 year old son, 16 year old step daughter, and 14 year old step son. My husband and I decided it would be nice to have another child if we could. I am not sure what will happen this time around. Of course we both hope and pray that we will see our due date of 10/6 and be holding our healthy child.

I understand everyone’s fears but it isn't that odd to be pregnant at 42. It is very common. Even if you look back 50 years ago women had babies late. I know the media bombards us with the facts that women’s eggs are aging and all the risks attributed to them, but the majority of women have a normal and healthy pregnancy! Don't listen to doomsayers! Not all 40 year old women age the same! You might be quite fertile for another 10 years. Good luck ! My mum had me at 45 and she started menopause at 55!

My mom had me at 45. She is the best mother and I am so glad she waited. Now I am 25, she is 70, and she looks and feels better then some 20 year olds.

I am 44 and pregnant, I didn't use anything except OPK's and lots of sex. Miscarriage is part of the deal with getting pregnant over 40 (3 miscarriages in the last 18mths).

This pregnancy is going well, didn't have any tests etc after miscarriages, just kept trying. Have to use OPK's for as many days as it takes (ovulation is not always when you expect). Have been taking fish oil from the start of last cycle so don’t know if this has made any difference but is meant to help in preventing miscarriages.
