I'm 43, soon to be 44 & pregnant with my 3rd child

I'm 43, soon to be 44 and pregnant surprise! with my third child. I have been overwhelmed. I had been having menopausal symptoms for over a year and thought I was done. I have 2 daughters 16 and almost 4. I'm happy about the baby but have had to completely switch gears.

I was talking to someone yesterday (I didn't even tell her I was trying to get pregnant), she told me her mother had her last child at the age of 47. She thought she was going through menopause but she was 4 months pregnant !!

I know a woman who got pregnant at 43 and had her baby at 44. It took her over a year, but she did it! She went through fertility treatments, but they didn't work. She got pregnant on her own. It can happen!

In general, is it possible to be pregnant at almost 47? Yes! One of my favourite sayings is "it ain't over 'til it's over" and until you have not had a period for an entire year, you have not reached menopause and it is very possible to get pregnant.

We know that a woman's cycles begin to slow down and change once she reaches 40 but as long as she is still cycling, she is still generally fertile and capable of achieving pregnancy.

I now think I'm pregnant again at 47 and I'm terrified.. Comforting words please.
