Adding to the hope (against hope) is the fact that a cousin of mine, at 45, recently found out she is pregnant, without trying! And, she is not in as good health/shape as I am. Talk about freaking out - it was very unplanned and her husband is 57, only a few years from his expected retirement

Iman (the model) I believe was told by some wise women in Somalia (where she comes from) that holding a baby would help her get pregnant. She had been trying for a long time to get pregnant and no success. After she started holding babies, she got pregnant at 44 or 45 (I cannot remember her exact age).

An acquaintance I know here in town got pregnant naturally at 45 and just delivered a precious Downs baby.

I love the Birth Stories on TV. Yesterday, they had a lady delivering that was 47, had never been able to conceive, who went into the ER with a swollen belly, no other symptoms. She found to her great delight that she was 6 months pregnant. After she was told that women in her age range always deliver by section she delivered vaginally after a relatively short labour. The baby was A-OK. Mom and Dad were over the moon.

One of us over 40s got pregnant aged 46 with her own eggs, through her first IVF. Last I heard of her she was 26 weeks and all was well so it can happen.

You Can Get Pregnant in Your 40's

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
