I saw 3 stories of women who were told by their doctors that they would NEVER have or be able to have children. The third one was due to her age. She got married at age 41 and started trying for a family right away...nothing happened, went to fertility treatment and eventually gave up. She is a very successful woman, and decided along with her husband to continue with her career. When she was 51, by surprise, SHE GOT PREGNANT!!!! Her daughter is now 3 years old

A lady in the UK had just given birth to twins (Feb 2004), and last week she celebrated her first Mother’s day and her 50th birthday, (she look very young for 50).
She had tried to get pregnant for nine years and thought it was never going to happen then, on holiday in France, conceived naturally. She said she was stressed during the pregnancy because she didn't have any tests done on the babies because of miscarriage risk, but gave birth by c-section to a healthy boy and girl.

I had an uncle whose wife was 50/51 when she had their 12th child. Lucky her!!!

My mother's friend had one at 47. No Down's screening or any tests and all concerned were absolutely fine. It can be done!

I just had a healthy happy baby boy (Wil) on June 24 at age 44. We did the amnio earlier in the pregnancy (for peace of mind) and there was no defects whatsoever. He has had his 2 month check-up and the doctor told me he checks out perfect.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
