Thought we were done at 44, but nature thought otherwise

Image: Surprised Baby, by Ben Kerckx on PixabayI am currently 12 weeks pregnant.

My husband, Steve and I thought we were done with the baby making, but apparently, nature thought otherwise.

We have six beautiful children, ranging in age from 20 to 6 years old.

I am definitely dealing with the consequences of being older.

Being pregnant at 44 years old is definitely not the same as being pregnant at 24 years old.

The morning sickness has been all day long sickness, I pee every 10 minutes and I have been exhausted.

I am 45 years old ( will be 46 years old next month)

I got a positive yesterday - and am excited, scared to death, and on an emotional roller-coaster.

We weren't using any fertility drugs or when we conceived our [3-year-old] son.

I know I am very, very lucky to be blessed again.

My grandmother was 44 years old with her last child.

I have a friend who just had her last one at 46 years old.

She had thought she was going thru menopause when she learned that she was pregnant!

I am 44 years old and went through a similar experience.

We started TTC [trying to conceive] when I turned 40 years old, but I had a miscarriage right away.

Then I had my son and had two more miscarriages since.

Happily, I'm pregnant again, only eight weeks - but I am really hopeful this time.

I am 43 years old, and 23 weeks pregnant.

I actually got pregnant about six weeks before my 43rd birthday.

I had a CVS [Chorionic Villus Sampling] and a Level 2 [ultrasound] - and everything looks fine with this one!

I am not a health nut either!

I did do two months of Clomid (50 mg) this past time and it helped.

Someone in my high school class also just had a baby, and my cousin's wife had one at 44 years old - without any fertility aid.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
