But as a survivor of infertility & first-time mom at 45, I can see why they keep trying at later & later ages. Mine wasn't planned that way. I had given up & he was a complete surprise & gift God gave us. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I had my 5th child at 43 and my 6th at 44. They are both adorable and could not be loved more. The other children are older and feel extremely BLESSED to have these wonderful baby brothers.

Dad was 52 when I was born. Even though mom was 44, + my twin & I were her 7th/8th children, she was a spitfire. AND she was already a grandma.

My husband's parents were in their 40s when he was born in the mid 60's.

My grandmother had her 6th child at age 45 with no problem. My mother-in-law was 45 when she had her 5th, and she went straight into menopause.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
