I had a good friend who went to the doctor because to get hormone pills to help with going through the change of life she was 47. She had her beautiful little girl two months after she turned 48. She was in denial for months and finally sought psychological help to get through the pregnancy

Yep, something similar happened with my friends mom [at 48]. I guess she was just really darn fertile...given she does have like six kids so that wasn't really a shocker.

My grandmother had my aunt when she was 47. Since my grandmother was older, my aunt and I grew up together and are extremely close. This happened to be back in the 70's, and my grandmother had NO complications. Every case is different, and some women do well with pregnancies on up into their early 50's.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
