I keep thinking "why can't I be like my grandma?" who had my dad at 46 and my aunt at 50 with no problems whatsoever!!! And that was over 80 years ago!!!!!

One that always amazed me was that woman who got pregnant accidentally (her 7th, she was 48 ) But then, she also said she just perfectly delivered another 46-year-old, who she (ob) was convinced would have all kinds of problems, but that the woman would say to that, "..or not" (have all kinds of problems.)

Teresa, 45 - We got pregnant the old fashioned way...no doctors or medication. Heck...I wasn't even eating that healthy!

I know my aunt on my mother's side, had a baby aged 43. She thought she was going through early menopause but was pregnant. She was a trained midwife and a matron in a country hospital, so you'd think she would have known the signs. My cousin is now 32. Wow time flies, huh.

When I started the TTC Yahoo list in 2002, one of the very first women to join the group told us that her mother's best friend attended her wedding at age 50 and very pregnant.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
