My great-grandmother miscarried twins at 52 when she thought she'd already had the menopause!

I have met many women [mostly friends of my mother's a fair few years ago now] who due to beginning 'the change' or menopause threw contraceptive caution to the wind and ended up getting unexpectedly pregnant when they were well into their late forties and also well into their menopausal changes as well

The midwife who delivered my baby last year had delivered a baby to a woman aged 51, which was naturally conceived.

There are ladies who are successful in their 40's and I know of some up to 46 and 47 who have had babies.

I wanted you to know that I got pregnant with my 2nd child just before my 44th birthday, and this was after 12 years of what I now know is called "secondary infertility".

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
