Whoa! I’m 45 and I just got a prescription for prenatal vitamins. When I first learned I was pregnant, I felt like it must be a huge mistake.
Even the Doctor’s office didn’t quite believe me—they did a second test “just to be sure”. I left their office with booklets on baby development and a due date some time after my 46th birthday.

I volunteer at a crisis pregnancy centre and I don't know if anyone is aware of this, but the largest percentage of abortions are done on women under 18 and over 40. Which would lead me to believe that the numbers of women who get pg over 40 are inaccurate.

My dr said he had many patients that were over 45 and some in their 50's that got pregnant on their own... so it does happen.

"Babies, special delivery" - showed a 47 year old woman who was infertile all her life. She had just accepted the fact that she'd never have children. She was on HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) for menopausal symptoms and had not had a period in over 2 years. She went into the Dr. with abdominal distension and was found to be SIX MONTHS PREGNANT!!
Gave birth naturally to a healthy, NORMAL, beautiful baby girl. It was the most emotional thing I've ever seen. Her and her husband were just soooo happy.

About Catherine: I am mom to three grown sons, two grandchildren and two rescue dogs. After years of raising my boys as a single mom, I remarried a wonderful man who had never had a child of his own. Unexpectedly, I found myself pregnant at 49!
Sadly we lost our precious baby at 8 weeks, and decided to try again. Five more losses, turned down for donor egg, foster care and adoption due to my age and losses - we have accepted there will be no more babies in our house.
