"I will be 46 1/2 when baby is born"
I had a beautiful, healthy baby boy 6 weeks before I turned 44. I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with another boy. I will be 46 1/2 when he is born on June 24th. At 43, It only took me 3 months to get pregnant.
It did take a lot longer this time. We actually tried for over a year, then went to an RE. I had 2 IUI's done with no success. Then the first month we really did not try (because of a cyst) I got pregnant naturally about 8 weeks before my 46th birthday. I will do my darndest to stay young and fit and healthy to keep up with these 2 little boys.
My dh is in great shape too, and he just turned 48.

Just wanted to know if there were any other moms 47+ years old expecting (this was without "trying") & what their experiences to date have been? I'm only 6 weeks along.

I am 47 and 6 months, my baby boy is due in Sept 1, making me nearly 24 weeks!! My last child is 15 years old. I did not have problems falling pregnant, but I know it is harder to conceive plus a higher risk for miscarriages.

I, too, have heard so many stories from people that have had children in their 40's. I can remember years ago when I heard that a gal I knew was 47 and having one, and I thought, my goodness. Well, here I am at 43, going to be 44 when I deliver, doing it.

I have heard some success stories—some on this board (one woman was 48) and some in my life (two friends of friends, one 47 and one 46). It happens.
TODAY'S BOOK SUGGESTION:
What I Thought I Knew: A Memoir
by Alice Eve Cohen
--A personal and medical odyssey beyond anything most women would believe possible
At age forty-four, Alice Eve Cohen was happy for the first time in years.
After a difficult divorce, she was engaged to an inspiring man, joyfully raising her adopted daughter, and her career was blossoming. Alice tells her fiancé that she's never been happier. And then the stomach pains begin.
In her unflinchingly honest and ruefully witty voice, Alice nimbly carries us through her metamorphosis from a woman who has come to terms with infertility to one who struggles to love a heartbeat found in her womb - six months into a high-risk pregnancy.
What I Thought I Knew is a page-turner filled with vivid characters, humor, and many surprises and twists of fate.
With the suspense of a thriller and the intimacy of a diary, Cohen describes her unexpected journey through doubt, a broken medical system, and the hotly contested terrain of motherhood and family in today's society.
Timely and compelling, What I Thought I Knew will capture readers of memoirs such as Eat, Pray, Love; The Glass Castle; and A Three Dog Life.
